Pandiaspora Health Awareness Week 14 - 21st July 2008, Nigeria
Health Awareness is an annual programme of Pandiaspora Medical Missions designed to lead into the NNVS Diaspora Conference Week. It brings together the work of the medical mission teams in raising public knowledge and awareness about conditions of significant public health importance such as HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, Obesity, Infant and Maternal Mortality and Poverty. In 2008 the team will be offering non-laboratory based screening to identify individuals at high risk for cardiovascular (heart attacks) and cerebrovascular (stroke) accidents. The main aim of the 2008 health awareness week is to increase public knowledge about the risk factors for heart attack and stroke, both of which have increased significantly in Nigeria over the past couple of years.
