We aim to contribute to the achievement of UN Millennium Development Goals (UN-MDGs) for Nigeria by 2015
The following initiatives of the Pandiaspora are currently pending implementation and we are seeking partnership funding to deliver on the action plan for the projects. Most of our projects directly support people, especially indigent populations in resource poor and rural settings. Our surgical medical mission programmes provide life-saving surgical interventions for patients. In the past our doctors have provided Orthopaedic, Obstetrical & Gynecological, HEENT - Middle Ear, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgical services to patients at Nigerian Hospitals. We aim to contribute significantly to the efforts of the Nigerian Government and other NGOs, to achieve the UN-MDGs by 2015. Our projects are focused on the Health and Educational impact, but are inextricably linked to other goals such as as poverty reduction, gender equality and environmental protection.
Pandiaspora Medical Mission Fund®The medical mission fund is an independent health initiative, tasking Nigerian businesses, Government officials and other Non-Governmental Organisations to take specific, concrete steps to improving the health of the population. The initiative will be launched at the inaugural meeting of Pandiaspora to be held on Nigerian Diaspora Day on 25 July 2008. Pandiaspora is seeking donations of up to N500m to support medical mission activities of Nigeria Doctors in the Diaspora over the next 5 years. The fund will support provision of free medical mission programmes to different parts of the country and especially to support maternal child health programmes in rural areas of Nigeria.
Pandiaspora Rural Health Inititiative®
Pandiaspora is currently seeking sponsorship to send Nigerian doctors to work in the most deprived rural primary health centers. Under the programme primary care doctors would work in rural communities based at community health centres for up to 3-months rotations, attending to practice lists of up to 10,000 patients. Most common conditions include piles, minor cuts, wounds and bruises, insect bites and stings, malnutrition, malaria, typhoid, hypertension, athritis, red eye, dehydration, measles, antenatal care, gastrointestinal infections, foodborne illnesses, otitis media, upper respiratory infections and other commonly preventable conditions. This initiative is currently being piloted with some State Governments. Nigerian Diaspora Come Back Home Programme®
The Nigerian Diaspora Come Back Home Programme® is a new initiative of Pandiaspora. It aims to support Highly Skilled Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora who have excelled in their profession and working in the Diaspora to return home and help in nation building. Pandiaspora will assist in negotiations with the indigene's State Government with finding suitable employment in specialities of high need or demand and seek reimbursement for relocation expenses. Additional assistance will include accommodation, security, spousal employment and continuing education for the child(ren). This initiative is currently being piloted with some State Governments. DrNigeria® – A Pandiaspora Project of the Nigerian National Healthline®
DrNigeria® is the official call sign of the Nigerian National Healthline, a proposed initiative to provide a 24 hr free medical advisory and support to established patients with chronic diseases and to support health professionals managing such patients. DrNigeria® is staffed by specialists and consultant medical doctors, nurses and pharmacists.
